The African American Stamp Collection

Philately – The collection and study of postage stamps, stamped envelopes, postmarks, postcards and other materials relating to postal delivery.

Welcome

The African American Stamp Collection Collection Website is a resource for American history. It uses the United States Postal System (USPS) as a vehicle to display this history. The USPS issued the first African American postage stamp in 1940; Booker T. Washington. Since then, hundreds of these miniature works of art have been issued by USPS.

Each year, that number grows.
